MAWKYRWAT: Amid speculation of a rift within the party, HSPDP has received a big boost in Mawkyrwat constituency with hundreds of people from Jakrem village joining the party.
In a meeting held on Thursday on the premises of Seng Samla LP School, Jakrem, hundreds of people from Jakrem village joined the party hoping success for party candidate Renikton L. Tongkhar.
Jakrem is one of the biggest villages in South West Khasi Hills district with an electorate touching 1800. However, in the past, HSPDP could not secure more than 100 votes from this village.
The primary unit of Jakrem polling station was also formed to strengthen the HSPDP in the constituency. .
