SHILLONG: North-Eastern Hill University Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA) has condemned the killing of journalist and activist, Gauri Lankesh. The teachers’ body described Lankesh as “a symbol of resistance against the fascist forces in the country”, and expressed concern over the “systematic silencing of voices of dissent” which has become a pattern. While detesting the growing culture of intolerance and hate, NEHUTA advocates the protection of democratic and dialogic space in the country by supporting the settlement of arguments with counter arguments and not physical extermination of individuals.
