Vatican City, Sep 15 (IANS/AKI) A priest attached to the Holy See’s embassy in Washington has been recalled to Rome after the US government warned the diplomat may have broken child pornography laws, the Vatican said on Friday.

Vatican prosecutors have launched an investigation of the diplomat, who is currently at the Vatican City, the statement said.

The probe is “subject to investigative confidentiality,” the statement added.

The Vatican did not name the priest.

The US State Department had notified the Holy See on August 21 “of a “possible violation of laws relating to child pornography images” by one of its diplomats, the Vatican stated.
