Former PWD Engineer joins BJP in Jaintia Hills

JOWAI: Former PWD Engineer, Lakhon Biam has joined the Bharat Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday at a meeting held at his residence at Nangbah village, West Jaintia Hills.
 Biam recently resigned from the post of Assistant Executive Engineer, PWD (Public Works Department), NEC Division to contest in the upcoming Assembly election from Raliang Constituency presently represented by Community & Rural Development Minister, Coming One Ymbon.
 “With Lakhon Biam joining our party, we will get huge mileage for the upcoming Assembly election in 2018,’’ BJP state president, Shibun Lyngdoh said.
“Sab ke sath, sab ka Vikas, we wish this young dynamic leader for his success and good health,’’ he added.
Besides Biam, others in the fray include JHADC MDC, Richard Sing Lyngdoh and the sitting MLA.
However, sources informed that Konstan Sungoh of Nangbah will also contest from the United Democratic Party (UDP).
Sungoh lost the last Assembly election to Ymbon by a margin of 3422 votes.
