Mawblei area goes without power since Tuesday morning

SHILLONG: Residents of Mawblei area were without power supply for the entire day  on Tuesday and the reason was not known to them and the power authority did not care to give one to the people who suffered because disruption in power supply to the area.

People from the area called up The Shillong Times office at around 9.30  P.M. on Tuesday  informing about their grievances and the difficulty which they were  faced without power supply.

“We cannot cook, we cannot pump water, we can’t do anything,” an anguished  resident from the area said.

Residents said that they had been virtually without power supply since Tuesday morning though power was restored in the morning only for a brief period.

Another resident lamented that they couldn’t even charge their mobile phones since power supply was cut off.

Attempts were made to contact the concerned MeEC office at  Jingkieng office where no one picked up the phone.
