‘No discrepancies in PDS rice scam probe’

TURA: The sub-divisional officer of Dadenggre, Ramkumar S has said that all necessary procedures were followed during the inquiry into the recent scam involving the distribution of rice under public distribution system among flood victims.
“A full inquiry was carried out by the undersigned till September 12. The process took statements from various quarters including the village relief distribution committee, the wholesaler and other members of the general public who were willing to depose with evidence,” Ramkumar, who was entrusted to conduct the probe, said.
According to the SDO, the notice for deposition was put up on all notice boards of the office as well as a copy sent to the officer in charge of Phulbari for display on the notice board. He said the same was also posted on his official website.
“These were the available communication means from my office which were fully utilized. The inquiry was completed and the report submitted on the September 15 to the deputy commissioner of West Garo Hills district for further perusal,” the official added.
According to Ramkumar, the inquiry was conducted on the field and statements taken from relief committees. Samples of items such as rice, dal and oil were also taken.
