SHILLONG: Yet again, the visit of national president of BJP, Amit Shah to Shillong has been postponed.
Shah was to visit Shillong on October 7, but due to the upcoming Assembly polls in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, he has re-scheduled his visit.
The BJP state president, Shibun Lyngdoh, who is camping in Delhi in connection with the two-day BJP national executive meet, said over phone on Sunday that since the national president will be busy for the elections to Gujarat and Himachal Assemblies, which may be held in December, he may now visit Shillong sometime in November.
Earlier, Shah had scheduled his visit on September 28, but it was deferred since the visit was coinciding with the Durga Puja celebrations.
Prior to this, the date fixed for his visit was on August 12, but it was postponed to September 28 since he was busy during the Rajya Sabha polls.
Lyngdoh said that the Meghalaya election in- charge and Union Tourism Minister Alphons Kannanthanam and national spokesperson and Meghalaya in- charge Nalin Kohli will visit Shillong on September 29 and will leave for Delhi the next day.
The purpose of their visit to Shillong is to assess the preparedness of the party for the upcoming polls.
The state party president said that in Delhi, the organisational meeting of the party was held on Sunday attended by the presidents of the party from all the states.
Lyngdoh said that the report related to organisational activities of the party at the state, district and block levels was presented to the central leadership in the meeting chaired by the party president. He said the core committee meeting of the party will be held on Monday to discuss other issues.
