SHILLONG: The president of South West Khasi Hills District Congress Committee and Congress MDC Manstudy Nongrem has alleged that the Mawkyrwat Block Congress Committee (MBCC) was dissolved after a decision by the leaders to leave the party and join National People’s Party.
Nongrem said chaos erupted during the general meeting of the Block Congress Committee in which Diverland Lyngdoh persuaded all the party workers and leaders to join NPP while Congress MLA Rowell Lyngdoh was scheduled to join the party later.
Diverland is Rowell’s nephew who was once an active Congress member and a former All India Congress Committee (AICC) member and general secretary of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).
