Cops to rein in traffic offenders

SHILLONG: With the city expected to witness heavy traffic snarls during puja celebrations, the Shillong Traffic Police has warned of strict against those who break the law.
SP (Traffic) NK Syiem said that police would take action against anyone parking in a no parking zone and added that people should park their vehicles only at designated spots to avoid causing traffic congestion.
In addition, traffic personnel will also be deployed at various puja pandals in the city to ensure smooth flow of vehicles. The police also stated that they will impose restrictions on the entry of trucks inside the city during the festive season. The STP will also be taking other measures to ease congestion.
It may also be mentioned that the city witnessed heavy traffic during Puja shopping.
