Felicitation
The All Meghalaya Dancers’ Association has felicitated soldiers and Meghalaya Police. The association also paid tribute to martyrs on the occasion as they gave away the Salam India award to 6 police constables and 2 posthumous awards.
Headmen elected
The Dorbar Shnong Malki has elected two headmen on September 23. The election was held at Madan Malki. The newly elected headmen are HP Oflyn Dohling and Prodin Kharmudai, won by 2123 votes and 768 votes respectively. There were seven contestants for the post of headman. The election was convened by Bindo M Lanong who also declared the results in the presence of the Dorbar Shnong and around two thousand residents of the locality.
ATM
Rakman Ch Marak, president, National People’s Party, Bajengdoba Block has urged the Assistant general manager, SBI Regional Office Tura, to make the defunct Bajengdoba ATM functional.
Dry day
The DC, West Khasi Hills District has declared dry day on October 2, on account of Gandhi Jayanti. All liquor shops, bars, hotels, canteens and bonded warehouses will remain closed on the day.
General meet
The Khasi Jaintia Higher Secondary Ad hoc Teachers Association will convene its general meeting at St. Dominic Savio Higher Secondary School, Mawkhar at 11 am on October 7. Furthermore, the Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association, Ri Bhoi District Unit, will hold its general meeting at the Umkyntier U.P. School Jirang at 11 am on October 7.
Puja greetings
The state BJP and the Modi fan club have greeted the people on the occasion of Durga Puja and Dusshera. The BJP mandal president of South Shillong Constituency Hubert Marbaniang has extended greetings to citizens of the constituency and the state on the occasion of Durga Puja.
The Blaze Sports Social and Cultural Association conveyed Durga Puja, Dussehra and upcoming Muharram festivals greetings to the people of the state. Shillong Cantonment Board Employees’ Union and Global Social Welfare Organisation also conveyed Durga Puja greetings.
Meeting
The North East Indigenous People’s Forum will host the first convener meeting at Shillong Club on October 2. The forum apart from the FKJGP consists of the ULFA, NSCN (IM), ANVC, DHD, ENPO and other organisations of the North East states.
Bikers’ body
The Ultimate Legend Bikers’ Association has formed its West Khasi Hills District wing on September 16. The programme was held in the district with all its leaders and members present.
Charity
The 19 Battalion BSF on Wednesday donated ration, health drinks, items of daily use and fruits, among other things, to Sister of Charity Mercy, an old age home, at Demthring.
