SHILLONG Union Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation and Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal on Wednesday said that the matter pertaining to Citizenship Bill was pending with a Parliamentary Committee.

“The moment, committee submits its report, it will be taken up before the Cabinet where it will be decided whether the Bill should be brought to Parliament or not,” he told reporters here on Wednesday.

It may be mentioned that the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016   which seeks to provide citizenship to Hindu Bangladeshi refugees in India is facing stiff resistance in Assam and other parts of the region.
