SHILLONG: Police on Thursday arrested an engineer identified as Lumlang Nongbri, 48 of a city locality for allegedly raping a mentally challenged minor girl.
The nine-year-old victim who was raped by the accused stays in the same building where the man resides, police sources informed.
A case was registered at Nongthymmai police station in this regard.
The accused, who is working as an engineer in a cement company in Sohra, however could not be produced before the court on Friday since he complained that he was unwell. He is currently admitted at Civil Hospital here.
