MDC opens public toilet and footpaths

SHILLONG: MDC Banteidor Lyngdoh (Bah Pai) who is the PDF ticket aspirant, launched a few schemes for Mawkynrew constituency, East Khasi Hills recently.
He inaugurated a public toilet and a footpath in the village on October 4.
The construction of the public toilet was sanctioned with Rs 1 lakh and the footpath Rs 50,000 through the Special Assistance Schemes.
The inaugural function was attended by Maron Suting, Sordar Mawlat village who is also the secretary of Raid Mawlat among others.
Speakers at the event lauded the efforts made by the MDC in keeping the cleanliness of the village and in catering to the needs of the villagers.
They also added that prior to the construction of the public latrine, the villagers faced difficulties especially when government officials would visit the place or even when outsiders/tourists visit the village as there was no public latrines. As for the construction of the footpath, it would serve the people well especially during monsoon season. Hence, it is a blessing for the village as a whole.
On the same day, the local MDC inaugurated a footbridge and a footpath in the locality of Wahshkot in Mawkria village.
The cost of construction of the footbridge was Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh was spent for the footpath.
The inauguration function was attended by the village officials and the residents.
“The inauguration of these structures is a boon for the village and it will be the backbone for the farmers as well as for the people of the village,” a speaker at the event said.
Speaking as the chief guest, Lyngdoh said, “I do not mean to toot my own horn, but as a representative I have tried to do well for the people within my power and to serve with no biasness to implement all the schemes that are sanctioned in the constituency. I hope to show that actions do speak louder than words”.
Lyngdoh also thanked the Sordar of the village along with the members of the village executive committee for their cooperation. He also urged the villagers to make good use of the structures and preserve them well for their own benefits.
Other speakers at the function include Kran Suting, president of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) Mawkria primary unit and Spor Suting, secretary PDF.
On the same day, many people joined the party and Women’s Wing PDF Mawkria unit was strengthened by the local MDC who is also the candidate of PDF for the Assembly elections.
