SHILLONG: Mawkynrew Block Congress Committee leaders led by axed president of the block, ER Thangkhiew, vice-president B. Nongspung, and 2008 MLA candidate Teilang Blah, have decided to leave the party.
The MBCC leaders have decided to extend their support to Remington Pyngrope, MLA from United Democratic Party, to steer him to victory in the 2018 Assembly elections.
In a public meeting held on Saturday, the Block Congress Committee termed the dissolution of the block by the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) as disrespectful and inhuman, as it was done without consulting the people. Forty-two units of the MBCC attended the public meeting.
