CM urged to move PM on scheduling of Khasi language

SHILLONG: The Khasi Authors Society on Thursday urged Meghalaya Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma to take up the matter of inclusion of Khasi language in the Eight Schedule of the Constitution with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A delegation of the society met Mukul Sangma and had a detailed discussion about the inclusion of the local language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

The delegation even urged the Chief Minister to quash its earlier notification issued in the year 2013 and revert back to the previous system by making Khasi a compulsory subject in   the three stream of Arts, Commerce and Science of Class XI and XII
