TURA: A woman ticket aspirant from the Congress from South Tura constituency is facing police investigation for fraudulently withdrawing over Rs 2 lakh without attending to her work as an assistant lecturer of Don Bosco College.
The accused, Anamika Jessirella G Momin of New Tura, joined the Higher Secondary Section of Don Bosco College in Tura as an Assistant Lecturer on September 17, 2015.
According to the complaint filed by the college with the Tura police, Momin discontinued her service on January 31 last year without tendering any resignation or intimating college authorities.
However, it was detected much later that despite not returning to work she began withdrawing her monthly salary from February 1, 2016, to January 31 this year. The amount withdrawn is Rs 2,03,280.
After verifying the financial records of the college, the principal cum secretary of Don Bosco College, Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, filed a complaint on Monday.
“An investigation is currently underway on the case,” said West Garo Hills SP MGR Kumar.
The accused has applied for Congress ticket though party sources said she is unlikely to be in the reckoning following the revelation on her financial dealings.
