SHILLONG: George B Lyngdoh, son of former chief minister E K Mawlong and the lone ticket aspirant of the Congress from Umroi, has listed the problems faced by the constituency that is represented by rebel leader Ngaitlang Dhar.
Ngaitlang, along with his brother and former minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, is set to join the National People’s Party.
Addressing a gathering at a function at Labansaro in Umroi organised to welcome members into the Mahila Umroi Block Congress Committee on Saturday, Lyngdoh said there was no infrastructure in education and health sectors. He added the joining of women members is a source of inspiration for the block unit and the party as a whole.
Preparing to enter the political arena once again, Lyngdoh left his job as a Joint Mission Director of MGNREGS in the state. He contested the 2009 by-election after his father’s death but lost by a close margin of 400 votes to Stanlywiss Rymbai who was defeated by Ngaitlang in 2013.
The meeting was attended by hundreds of women from different localities in the constituency.
