NONGSTOIN: Shillong MP Vincent H Pala has urged the state government to upgrade educational institutions in the rural areas
Recalling the significant contributions of the Christian leaders and missionaries from Meghalaya to spread the education in the state, Pala said educational institutions, particularly in the rural areas, have to be supported.
Speaking at the function held on the occasion of the inauguration of Mawlieh Secondary School, constructed under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, on Tuesday, the MP also stressed on proper maintenance and management of the school infrastructure provided by the government.
Pala also underlined the need to set up colleges in Rambrai for the benefit of students of the area.
“Students also need to set clear goals in life and pursue the same wholeheartedly,” he said.Pala also assured the management of support to upgrade infrastructure of the school.The function was also attended by K.P. Pangniang, MLA, Kimfa Sidney Marbaniang, MDC of Rambrai Jyrngam, SDSEO Nongstoin, R. Khongwang among others.
Pangniang, in his speech, thanked the state government for providing the much-needed infrastructure in the area.
“The people of Mawlieh area now won’t have to shift to other places to get better education. Parents are happy with the inauguration of the secondary level school as they cannot afford to send their children for higher studies to other places,” Pangniang said.
