NEC implementing poultry breeding farm in WGH

SHILLONG: The North Eastern Council (NEC) is implementing a project for Establishment of poultry breeding farm-cum hatchery in Phulbari, West Garo Hills.
As per the monthly progress report, the project with 3000 layers parent stock and 2000 broilers parent stock at Phulbari is being delayed by three months as of now.
It was sanctioned in the year 2015 with a total cost of Rs 562.25 lakhs. The deadline to complete the project was June this year, adding that the 2nd installment was released in July this year.
Meanwhile, NEC is also taking up another project of Lemon Cultivation for Enhancing better Livelihood and Nutrition Security in Meghalaya in locations like West Jaintia Hills, East Jaintia Hills, East Garo Hills, West Garo Hills, South Garo Hills & South West Garo Hills districts.
The project is sanctioned at a cost of Rs 491.00 lakh and the project is being delayed by 17 months.
The second installment for the project was released on February 28.
