SHILLONG: The HSPDP-UDP-GNC coalition has formed the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) to form the next government in Meghalaya after the 2018 polls.
UDP president Donkupar Roy said the coalition was strong and the three parties would be able to form the next government.
While in Khasi-Jaintia Hills, HSPDP and UDP had initiated seat-sharing to enable the coalition to come to power, UDP had also entered into pre-poll alliance with Garo Hills-based GNC.
UDP hopes to contest from 12 seats in Garo Hills as per the understanding with GNC.
Asked about the allegations from certain quarters that the UDP-HSPDP coalition has secret understanding with the Congress to form the next government, Roy said the current priority of the coalition was to win maximum seats and there was no discussion on the post-poll alliance.
It is for the first time in recent years that the UDP-HSPDP and GNC are coming together to fight the Assembly polls.
The UDP will soon release the next list of candidates and also the common minimum programme.
While these regional parties have their own separate agenda, the common minimum programme aims at pursuing common issues affecting the state.
