SHILLONG: Many bidders have responded to the tender floated in August for the proposed shopping complex at Polo that is part of the chief minister’s dream to convert the locality into a Times Square-like intersection.
The government is looking for a consultancy to prepare architectural and engineering design, master planning, zoning and landscaping consultancy in phases for construction of the commercial complex and infrastructure works.
The tentative date for submission of presentation of drawings is October 24 and presentation will be from November 6-8.
A state-of-the-art design for the commercial complex, display corner for artworks and sculpture, a music podium, an amphitheatre, parking space and a food court are among the things that are scheduled to be complete in Phase I.
Works in Phase II include master planning, landscaping and zoning, besides re-engineering of the Polo junction, rejuvenation of the Wahumkhrah, segregation of vendors’ shops from the shopping complex and integration of adjoining areas for development, among others.
