Gold biscuits worth Rs 50 lakh recovered from Rajdhani Express, 2 held

GUWAHATI: Ten gold  biscuits weighing about 1.6 Kg were recovered from New Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express by Government Railway Police this morning during a routine  search operation and arrested two persons in this connection.

A GRP source informed that two persons namely Ravi Sarma and Sanjay Sarma were arrested following recovery of gold from them. The gold worth about Rs 50 lakh were being carried to New Delhi from Dimapur in Nagaland.

The New Delhi bound Rajdhani Express originates at Dibrugarh in eastern Assam  and travels via Dimapur in Nagaland. One of the arrested hail from Gaziabad and the other from Delhi. They were carrying gold attached to their waist belts.

It may be mentioned the GRP recovered gold weighing about 57 kgs in Guwahati Railway Station during the last nine months.
