SHILLONG: The state government is yet to take action against the Tura magistrate for her alleged involvement in selecting her son and daughter to government posts.
The allegation against the member secretary of the District Selection Committee in West Garo Hills and additional district magistrate AVD Shira is that she presided over the recruitment examinations to government vacancies on September 26 in which her son and daughter made it to the top 10 list.
According to the result, Shira’s son Achilles Tangrik ranked second and her daughter Francesca Tigana secured fourth position after completion of the personal interview for the posts of lower division assistants.
Another controversy is that Tigana did not secure the minimum marks in her typing test, which is the preliminary step for the written examination.
Sources said with the delay in taking action against the anomaly, all those who cleared the exams have joined duty.
Though the government knew about the development, no inquiry was instituted.
Moreover, the state government is yet to receive any report from the deputy commissioner of West Garo Hills, Pravin Bakshi, regarding the matter though he had said in the first week of October that Shira had given an explanation about the issue which would be forwarded to the Personnel Department.
However, the Personnel Department had not received any report.
