TURA: The Secretary of the Tura Town Secondary School here has come under the scanner with other members of the managing committee along with parents, guardians and teachers alleging his high handed manner of functioning as well as violating rules and regulation prescribed in the Meghalaya Education Code.
In their complaint to the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, who is also the President of the school’s managing committee, the complainants who included local political leaders and prominent citizens, claimed that already four members of the committee- two guardian representatives, one teacher and a nominated member — had resigned in protest against the biased and dictatorial attitude of the secretary.
“The guardian and teacher representatives are primary stake holders in a school’s managing committee and resignation tendered by them with allegations indicates serious lapses in his style of functioning. Even the teachers of the institution have raised concern over the biased deeds of the secretary,” they said.
Allegations of not heeding resolutions taken during a meeting in which the deputy commissioner himself was the chairman, was also made by the complainants against secretary.
The complainants also questioned the interviews conducted recently by the secretary allegedly without the consent of all the members of the MC.
“Such clandestine manner of functioning without keeping other members in the loop has led to speculation about the unlawful activities that the secretary is involved in,” they added.
Stating that such activities of the secretary had resulted in mismanagement, misappropriation of school funds as well as hampered the development of the school, the complainants urged the deputy commissioner to take stern action against him so that the reputation of the one-hundred-year-old institution can be saved.
