NONGPOH: Hundreds of women members of the Congress and other parties have joined the National people’s Party (NPP) here.
The women have decided to support former Congress leader CB Syiem who will be NPP’s candidate from Nongpoh constituency and contest against veteran DD Lapang, the present MDC from UDP and lone woman candidate Rona Khymdeit and BJP’s PB Syiem, a new entrant.
CB Syiem said he was happy to see that the women have come forward to support the party to bring about a change in the constituency.
Syiem said the Congress would not come back to power. “It is high time for the people of the state to teach a lesson to the Congress and usher in change,” he added.
NPP has also formed a women’s block in Nongpoh with Delis Malai as president.
