SHILLONG: The Meghalaya People United Front (MPUF), an organisation from Jaintia Hills, has expressed concern on the dilapidated road condition at Jowai, West Jaintia Hills.

In a statement released here, the MPUF stated that the PWD roads at the post office and another road that leads to Superintendent of Police (SP) office and Inspection Bungalow (IB) were in a bad condition.

The organisation flayed the PWD department asserting that it is indifferent to the bad road condition in the urban areas and the rural areas.

The organisation went on to add that the national highway NH 44 has the worst roads as vehicles find it difficult to ply the road to make their way to the 7th mile weighbridge.

It stated that the G&R infrastructure project ltd which is executing the road project construction has taken a long time to complete the road construction of the road ahead of Umkiang etc.

In this connection, the MPUF has urged the PWD department and the private company to speed up the road construction/repair.
