Carnes Sohshang vies to contest from Mawkyrwat at Cong candidate

SHILLONG: The Mawkyrwat Block Congress Committee (MBCC) has sent the name of Carnes Sohshang to the state party high command as the candidate who will contest the 2018 Assembly Elections.

This was informed during the meeting chaired by Manstudy Nongrem, president of South West Khasi Hills District Congress Committee at the party office a couple days back.

Sohshang is a senior functionary of the Congress party and has worked as secretary in the youth Congress.

Sitting MLA from Mawkyrwat, Rowel Lyngdoh who is a veteran Congress leader is planning to leave the party and aspires to contest the MLA election from Mawkyrwat on National People’s Party (NPP) ticket.

He is likely to join the National People’s Party (NPP) officially after the next State Assembly session is over.
