SHILLONG: Armed with the High Court order, the petitioner of the PIL on parliamentary secretaries, Madal Sumer, will meet Governor Ganga Prasad on Friday seeking disqualification of as many as 17 parliamentary secretaries.
Besides, Sumer will also seek dismissal of the Congress-led MUA-II government as it will be reduced to a minority after the disqualification of the 17 MLAs who were appointed as parliamentary secretaries.
According to Sumer, there is a breakdown of constitutional machinery in Meghalaya since the government allowed several MLAs to hold office of profit for more than four years.
Sumer wanted the governor to dismiss the government and reiterated that the MLA schemes of the parliamentary secretaries should not be released for holding office of profit.
Besides, those MLAs should return the salary, perks and allowances which they availed from the date of their appointment.
A lawyer dealing with the case said since the former parliamentary secretaries, Celestine Lyngdoh and Comingone Ymbon, were appointed as cabinet ministers in August, they will also be affected since the PIL taken up last year had named them too.
