SHILLONG: The Wagah-type retreat ceremony between Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Dawki and   Kilapara at Dalu in Meghalaya is set to be delayed as the neighboring country is not yet fully prepared to take part in the ceremony.

An official from the BSF, however, informed that the BSF has started its individual retreat ceremony which is conducted at Dawki in morning and in evening.

“BGB has some issues and they are planning to come up with some decision on the joint retreat ceremony by March next year,” the official said.

Meanwhile, the BSF is ready with all the necessary infrastructures to hold the retreat ceremony.

It may be mentioned that the Dawki is already one of the favourite tourists’ destinations in Meghalaya. The place has a border check point and it is used by many tourists to cross over to India as well as Bangladesh.

Apart from retreat ceremony, BSF is also coming up with other infrastructure for tourists such as canteen, place to sit besides BSF also has plans to exhibit its weaponry and movie on the force   before the tourists who would visit the area.

Apart from Dawki, similar infrastructures are also coming up at Kilapara in Dalu in West Garo Hills.

Kilapara in West Garo Hills has a war memorial where tourists pay homage to martyrs of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. The war memorial reminds of an untold saga of suffering and bravery as the area was a strategic war zone in 1971.
