Independent MLA withdraws supports to Congress-led government

SHILLONG:  Independent MLA from Mowkaiaw, Robinus Syngkon on Wednesday withdrew his support from the Congress-led Meghalaya United Alliance (MUA) Government.

Confirming this, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker, AT Mondal said that he had received the letter of withdrawal pf support from the legislator.

“Now we will have to arrange a sit for him in the Opposition bench,” Mondal said.

On being asked about the long pending session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Mondal said that   as of now, there is no intimation from the government on   convening the session.

Mondal. However, informed that the Assembly session had to be convened before December 12.

Responding to a query about the disqualification of the former Parliamentary Secretaries, Mondal said that Governor so far had not intimated any information to the Speaker’s office. “The matter is directly related to the Office of the Governor,” Mondal said.
