SHILLONG : Meghalaya Governor Ganga Prasad on Thursday said that science could actually reach the masses in the country through technology given the progress made by the country in the use of digital technology.
He was speaking at the inaugural programme of 10th North East Bio-informatics Network (NEBInet) center, annual coordinators’ meet at St Edmund’s College on Thursday.
“The changing times have also inculcated a culture of cross-departmental and inter-disciplinary research. We have made forays into the new frontier areas of science and technology,” he added.
Referring to the applied discipline of bio-informatics, Prasad said, “Bioinformatics has emerged as a cutting edge technology and knowledge revolution with development of new methodologies for manipulating biological data to solve problems in Biology.”
According to him, the breakthrough in biology research was made possible by advancement in using Bioinformatics and computational biology.
Prasad was of the view that through the discussion and innovative ideas/suggestions, the meeting would open up new avenues to make substantial advancements in biological sciences in a way to evolve a proper and effective delivery mechanism for end users which is the common people
