SHILLONG: The State Security Commission  on Friday  directed the State Police department to take necessary measures to ensure that the matter pertaining to the   filling up of  2751  vacancies in the police department is  resolved at the earliest.

The Division Bench of the High Court of Meghalaya recently quashed the stay on the recruitment process of SF-10 commandos with conditions.

On August 31, the Single Bench headed by Justice SR Sen had stayed the selection process citing various anomalies carried out by the Home Department.

Speaking to media persons here after the meeting, Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma  informed that the Committee   reviewed the matter and necessary recommendations were given  to the police department as to how the matter can be expeditiously resolved and massive 2751  vacancies can be filled at the earliest.

Sangma informed that the entire recruitment for SF 10, battalion cadres and sub inspectors have been challenged in the Court by the petitioners and a final hearing on the matter is pending in the Court

“In the process, new vacancies of over 500 more have also   been accumulated,” Sangma said
