SHILLONG: Urban and Municipal Affairs Minister Ronnie Lyngdoh will call a review meeting to address the recurring problems in running the buses under Shillong Public Transport Service. Lyngdoh is critical over the manner in which the red buses were purchased and also the way they are being operated.
While several buses purchased under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission are lying without any repair, there are varied complaints on the way of running the buses including non-issuing of tickets.
The minister said that he will assess the status of the buses currently under operation and also those which are out of order.
Earlier, Lyngdoh had said that the government should not have entrusted the private parties to operate the buses as there was no clause in the agreement to repair the buses.
