Passing-out parade of Gorkha Rifles held

SHILLONG: The passing-out parade of the Gorkha Rifles was held on Saturday. Altogether 107 recruits of the 5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) and 81 of 8 Gorkha Rifles took the oath of affirmation at Harish parade ground at 58 Gorkha Training Centre.
Recruit Dor Bahadur KC was adjudged as the ‘Overall Best Recruit’ and was awarded the ‘Manekshaw Khukri’.
Recruit Ramesh Darlami Magar was adjudged as the Best Recruit 5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) and was awarded ‘Zorawar Khukri’ and Recruit Dor Bahadur KC was adjudged as the Best Recruit of 8 Gorkha Rifles and was awarded the ‘Dutta Trophy’.
Parents of the recruits were honoured with the ‘Gaurav Padak’ to commemorate their contribution to the nation.
The parade was reviewed by Brigadier Mukesh Gurung, SM Commandant of the Centre.
