NPP Kharkutta downplays defection

SHILLONG: The Kharkutta unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) has said only 10 supporters of one of its ticket aspirant have joined UDP.
In a statement to the media issued on Sunday, NPP-Kharkutta secretary Parlingstone Sangma said the supporters of Rupert Momin, “who has been seeking NPP ticket”, joined UDP during a rally of the UDP-GNC alliance on November 17.
Downplaying the defection, the NPP unit said none from among the supporters of OK Sangma, another North Garo Hills leader, joined UDP.
