SHILLONG: Deficit teachers of schools and colleges will not come under the purview of the new revised pay that the state government approved last week.
Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said on Tuesday the terms of reference of the Pay Commission are for government employees whereas for deficit teachers, there are different schemes.
Deficit educational institutions are run by managing committees or private bodies but follow the salary structure of government teachers.
“Deficit teachers will automatically benefit whenever the government raises basic salary and all of their allowances are revised…
They also get almost equal pay whenever the department comes with a proposal except the issue of pension, which has not been resolved,” the chief minister said.
“If the management of all deficit schools and colleges is willing, they can be provincialised,” he added.
