SHILLONG: The United Democratic Party (UDP) of Umroi constituency has sent a representation to the party high command to review the allotment of seat in the constituency.
The party feels that Mangkara Pathaw should be allotted the party ticket instead of First Force Deki Ramsiej.
Confusion arose on the allotment of Umroi seat as the name of Ramsiej as candidate was declared in the party’s first list in September, whereas Pathaw’s name was declared along with two other candidates on Wednesday.
When contacted, a member of the UDP state election committee said, “A representation was submitted by the Umroi Circle signed by the president and the secretary to review the ticket allotment.” He added, “It was a decision of the circle and not from the high command where they felt that the party ticket should go to him (Pathaw).”
Asked on the fate of Ramsiej, he said, “The party will take care of him.”
Pathaw is the son of JD Rymbai, a former Chief Minister and UDP leader who has decided to quit ‘active politics’. On the other hand, it is learnt that Ramsiej has applied for Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) to contest elections.
