SHILLONG: The last session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will be held from December 8.
An official of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly said on Friday that the winter session has been scheduled from December 8 and added that it may last only for a few days.
The Business Advisory Committee will meet to decide the number of days for the last session of the current term.
The holding of mandatory Assembly session every six months has been pending since March after the budget was passed.
However, the state government relied on the special session convened in June to schedule another session within six months.
With just two months ahead of the Assembly polls, the rebel legislators mostly from the Congress were eagerly waiting for the last Assembly session as they wanted to resign to join other political parties.
Those who will resign from the Congress include Rowell Lyngdoh, PN Syiem, Prestone Tynsong, Sniawbhalang Dhar and Ngaitlang Dhar.
Though it may be a short session, the Opposition has varied issues, including education scam, appointment of parliamentary secretaries and lack of development initiatives to take on the government.
