TURA: The Garo Hills Autonomous District Council officials called on chief executive member Boston Marak on Wednesday to press upon him to release more than the two months dues proposed to be released shortly.
The officials pointed out to the CEM that release of only two months dues would not suffice and sought the release of a minimum of three months salaries based on the availability of funds in the council coffers. The CEM, during discussions with the officials, gave a verbal assurance that the three months dues would be cleared as per availability of funds.
The GHADC employees have been unpaid for 15 long months and employees are extremely worried about the bleak future since there are barely three working weeks left before the holiday season sets in.
