SHILLONG: Like the residents of Shillong would say, with winter season comes the season of robbery.
The city and its outskirts have recorded a rise in cases as the mercury level dips.
Anjela Syrti of Moolait Bri Sutnga village lodged a complaint that at 5.30 pm on November 25, seven masked miscreants armed with pistols and daggers, robbed Rs. 80,000, two tolas of gold, two tolas of silver and two cell-phones from her.
Angela Laldingngheti lodged a complaint that on November 27 between 12.40 pm to 1 pm, she had gone to a nearby shop locking the house. However, when she returned, the door was open. She saw a man coming out of her bedroom, the miscreant pushed her and fled.She has sustained injuries. Later, she found that the miscreant had stolen cash Rs 70,000 and gold earrings valued around Rs 20,000. Police arrested Maitshphrang Sumer (18) and a 17-year-old boy. The police have forwarded them to court and Juvenile Home, respectively.
In another case on November 28 around 5 pm, police arrested Haider Ali while he was attempting to pick-pocket at Motphran.
On the same night, miscreants stole one motorcycle belonging to V. Wahlang from Upper New Nongstoin.
