SHILLONG: Veteran politician Rowell Lyngdoh has kept the date of his joining the National People’s Party vague.
Lyngdoh said none of the senior Congress leaders who will join NPP can say when they would join. “We are waiting for the Assembly to get over and we may even wait till the announcement of the elections before,” he said.
The senior Congress leader, who is set to contest the election on NPP ticket from Mawkyrwat, said though he is sure to join the party he has not met anyone recently and the decision to resign from the Congress will be taken after discussions with friends.
As many as five legislators, four from the Congress and one from UDP, have already made their intention clear to contest the elections on NPP ticket.
While the Congress is losing leaders like Prestone Tynsong, Lyngdoh, Sniawbhalang Dhar and Ngaitlang Dhar, UDP will lose MLA Remington Pyngrope.
