Informing here on Monday, state president, Jamil Ahmed said that Banrilang Jungai will contest from Jowai, Donlang Nongbri who is also the district president of the party in East Khasi Hill, will contest from Mawlai and Tony Marbaniang, the working youth unit president, will contest from North Shillong.

“Altogether we have announced five candidates so far,” he said, adding that they have announced the name of Denis Tynsiar from Pynursla and Arelitha K. Sangma from Selsella in the first list.

Confident of victory, Ahmed maintained that the party which is an ally of the BJP in the Center, has garnered support from the people of the state.

“We are aiming to form the next government in Meghalaya and we aimed to contest 35-40 seats, otherwise how will we form the next government?” he remarked.

Asked on the release of the party’s poll manifesto, he pointed out that other parties too had not released their manifesto and was quick to add, “Time is still there”.

On the other hand, Ahmed said that party was keen to field “clean, honest candidates,” as the party was trying to “change the mentality of the people” on the issue of money power during elections.
