SHILLONG: Former inspector of police (CID), Shillong, Anjan Chakraborty has alleged he has been a victim of all cases falsely implicated in the FIR for personal enmity.
Chakraborty said he had submitted a letter for his voluntary retirement because of inhuman torture by IGP (CID) Meghalaya. When no action was taken by DGP office, Meghalaya, even after waiting for six months, he was compelled to take the help of the Meghalaya High Court.
“Meghalaya High Court then issued a notice to the competent authority for not granting voluntary retirement, and thereafter, the Meghalaya police registered a fake case against me and I was arrested,”he said.
Chakraborty also said he was kept in police/ judicial custody for 26 days but Meghalaya police declared him an absconder from the very next day of his arrest which is inarguably illegal and amounts to misuse of power.
He said in Shillong Sadar police station case (no 218 (6), 2014) , a charge sheet was filed but his name was not included in the charge sheet as no evidence was found against him, In Sadar police station case no 219 (6), 2014, Shillong court dropped the case on October 10, 2016.
He also informed that in Sadar PS Case number 233 (7), 2014, police submitted FRT because of insufficient evidence.
Chakraborty said the instant case was totally false and politically motivated and added that according to the complaint, the total value of the case was Rs 2, 50,000.
However, the police said the total value of the case was Rs one lakh. He added that according to the complainant, the date of incident was August 2 whereas police said it occurred on July 19 and Rs 9500 was recovered from him.
