SHILLONG: Over 12,000 lower and upper primary teachers will take out a rally in the city on Tuesday in demand for pending arrears and salary.
In a statement to the media released on Sunday, the Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA) said arrears were not paid for eight months and salary for four months.
Aristotle C Rymbai, president of MSSASA, said the protest was planned after the state government did not pay heed to their requests by December 8, the deadline set by the association.
The rally will start at 11am from Nongthymmai playground and culminate at the Additional Secretariat parking lot.
The teachers’ union had earlier met the education secretary, WR Lyngdoh, and State Project Director SEMAM-SSA Ambrose Ch Marak.
