SHILLONG: A 50-m stretch of the national highway that will be inaugurated on Saturday is yet to be completed.
An official of the PWD (national highways) informed that work on the stretch will be taken up on Thursday.
According to officials, work was delayed because of leakage from below the road and specialised people from Maharashtra were called for necessary action.
The road project, which has seen some delay, has been constructed at a budget of over Rs 2,300 crore.
The work along the 264.30km Shillong-Nongstoin-Tura road at a cost of Rs 1494 crore started in February 2011 and was scheduled to be completed by March 2014.
