Sec 144
The district magistrate of East Jaintia Hills district, Khliehriat has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC to ensure that the conduct of election is held peacefully in 5-Sutnga Saipung and 6-Khliehriat Assembly constituencies. The order prohibits carrying of arms by any person or persons and that all arms license holders in the district to deposit their weapons along with photocopies of licenses in their respective police stations and outposts for safe custody and the same would be released after the election process. The order shall come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force till the election process is over. The order shall not apply to members of the police, security and paramilitary forces who may carry arms in connection with their lawful duties, informs an official press release issued here.
Unclaimed body
The Joint Director of Health Services (SS), Civil Hospital, Shillong has informed that a male patient named not known, aged 60 years, caste-schedule caste, religion-Hindu, C/o PAB was admitted in the male ward-I, Bed No. 86 on December 5, passed away on Tuesday. Relatives and others are requested to collect the body from the Civil Hospital Morgue within three days failing which the body will be send for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.
Resignation
Sumis N. Marak has tendered his resignation from the post of Additional Public Prosecutor, West Khasi Hills to the Secretary, Law Department due to unavoidable circumstances.
NCC camp
42 Meghalaya Signal Company NCC will organise a trekking camp for NCC cadets at ARPS Laitkor from December 17 to 18. Around 500 cadets from different parts of the country will attend the camp.
IT award
The government will distribute laptops to the meritorious students of SSLC, MBOSE HSSLC, ICSE, CBSE Class-XII, ISC and special students for the year 2017. The IT Award Ceremony will be held at Yojana Bhavan Auditorium, Main Secretariat Building in the city at 1:30 pm on December 22. The registered students are urged to report the reception at the venue by 11:30 am.
Pre-Christmas
The Alumni Association of St. Mary’s College in collaboration with St. Mary’s College will organise a pre-Christmas gathering on college premises at 11 am on Friday.
Cleaning drive
The Dorbar Shnong Mission Compound will organise a cleaning drive from 7 am on Saturday. Vehicular movement is not allowed.
The Lumshyiap Dorbar Shnong will hold its annual cleaning drive in the locality from 8 am onwards on December 14. The Dorbar of botht the locality have urged all the residents to participate in the annual cleaning drive.
Parents meet
The National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disability, Secunderabad with PARIVAAR (National Confederation of Parents Organiaation – NCPO) will organise the regional parents meet at SMELC, Tura on Friday and Saturday.
