SHILLONG: Belying speculations and expectations four non-BJP MLAs – AL Hek,   Sanbor Shullai, Robinus Syngkon and Justine Dkhar,  did not turned up at the BJP rally addressed by  the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at Polo ground here  on Saturday.

It was speculated that the four MLAs would share the dais with Prime Minister as they were likely to join the BJP.

As none of the MLAs turned up for the rally, BJP’s Meghalaya State Unit President,  Shibun Lyngdoh later said that they had a verbal talk with the MLAs who had agreed to share the dais with the PM  but, the MLAs did not send their identity cards and photographs to the BJP authorities for making their  ID cards to be able to sit with the PM since Special Protection Group  (SPG) was very strict on the security matters of the PM.

On being asked if the four MLAs would join BJP, he said that the MLAs were likely to join BJP after the Assembly was dissolved.

“ But we can’t force them to join our party and its upto them. Ours is a cadre based party and we have many people to contest the elections,” Shibun said.
