SHILLONG: State BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh said the names of the party candidates would be released after the announcement of the Assembly election date.
“We have identified the candidates and all the 60 mandals have been formed in addition to 1820 booths. We have more than 60 candidates and the names of the contestants will be known after the announcement of the poll date,” Lyngdoh said.
He said BJP would be contesting on the strength of its grassroots workers and not on money power.
Lyngdoh said though the party was in touch with four sitting MLAs, they were yet to resign from their respective parties before joining BJP.
The state BJP president had earlier invited legislators, AL Hek, Sanbor Shullai, Robinus Syngkon and Justine Dkhar to share dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the city on Saturday, but in vain as they did not turn up.
