PHE minister inaugurates NGO office building

Nongpoh: Celestine Lyngdoh, PHE Minister and local legislator inaugurated the office building of the Saiden Women’s Welfare Association (SWWO) and Saiden Socio Cultural and Sports Club (SSCSC) in a pre-Christmas celebration that was held on Thursday evening.
The building was sanctioned under the Special Rural Work Programme at an amount of Rs. 8.50 lakhs.
In her speech during the inaugural session, President of SWWO, BM Lyngdoh said that it is indeed a proud moment for the women of the village to have an office as they too bear huge responsibility not just in the maintenance of peace and tranquility but also for the overall development of the village.
The women’s body also distributed blankets to poor families of the village as part of the pre-Christmas celebration and organised various programmes.
The SSCSC under the leadership of MG Kharshanlor thanked Celestine Lyngdoh for his leadership and contributions.
Meanwhile, Lyngdoh presented the SWWO with a sewing machine and a work order of Rs. 2 lakh under SRWP for up-gradation of the office building.
