TURA: One more NPP candidate from Garo Hills has resigned from the party after failing to get a party ticket and will now contest the Assembly elections as an Independent.
Nehru D Sangma from Rongronggre in West Garo Hills who applied for an NPP ticket to contest from Gambegre constituency resigned from the party along with over 3,000 of his supporters on Friday.
In his resignation letter to the NPP district president, Sangma said he was disappointed by the party’s decision not to allot him a ticket.
“I had great expectations to get the party ticket to contest the elections. My name had already been sent to the high command but the ticket was given to someone else after all I had done for the party,” Sangma said.
Earlier, NPP released its fourth list of candidates where Philipole Marak featured as the candidate for Gambegre.
